From Hamburg out into the world

Where does our history begin? With the founding of K.D. Feddersen & Co. in 1949 or the eponymous Norddeutsche Ueberseegesellschaft in 1919? In any case, one thing is clear: we have been Hamburg traders from the very beginning.

1949 - 1952

Founding

Karl Detlef Feddersen founded the chemical trading company K.D. Feddersen & Co. in Hamburg in 1949 at the age of 58 and after many years of professional experience in trade. In 1952, he acquires Norddeutsche Ueberseegesellschaft in Hamburg mbH, from which our company name is derived.

1955

Portfolio expansion: Plastics

Karl Detlef Feddersen adds plastics to the portfolio for the first time in 1955, a material that was still quite new at the time. In doing so, he demonstrates foresight, for this versatile product will contribute significantly to the growth of the company. Records are just one of many applications.

1958, 1985

K.D. Feddersen Foundation

Karl Detlef Feddersen established the K.D. Feddersen Foundation out of a desire to give something back to society and after his death in 1958 it became the sole owner of the group of companies. 1985: K.D. Feddersen Holding GmbH becomes owner of Feddersen Group. K.D. Feddersen Foundation, now sole owner of the holding, concentrates on its role as a non-profit public benefit organisation

1960 – 1970

International Expansion

During these years, we have lived up to our name and established ourselves in these locations: Jakarta, Bangkok, Istanbul, Manila, Mexico, Taipei, Nairobi and São Paulo. On the picture: skyline of Jakarta at night.

1980 - 1992

Portfolio expansion and holding

In 1980, agrochemicals are added to our product portfolio. In 1985, K.D. Feddersen Holding GmbH became the owner of the steadily growing Feddersen Group. In 1992, the internationally trading Schlubach Group, whose origins go back to 1867, is acquired.

1998 - today

More branches founded

To ensure local service, we have established additional branches and representative offices. Background image: Manila Bay

1998

Foundation of K.D.F. Distribution (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, China

2002

The representative office of K.D. Feddersen Ueberseegesellschaft mbH is opened in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

2003

K.D. Feddersen do Brasil is founded in São Paulo

2012

Foundation of K.D. Feddersen Vietnam Co., Ltd.

2016

Our representative office in Jakarta, Indonesia, resumes its business activities.
